Black Lips working on their fifth record
Billboard is reporting that the Black Lips are two recording sessions into their fifth studio album. Guitarist Ian Saint Pe spoke to the magazine, commenting that the record should be completed by June with a release date expected in late summer or early fall. The band recorded at its studio in Decatur, GA, followed by a session with Bradford Cox and Lockett Pundt of Deerhunter producing. A third session is slated for the Distillery in Costa Mesa, California. The band recorded 2005's Let It Bloom in that studio.Saint Pe commented to Billboard on the direction of the album: "We do what we do. It'll sound like a Black Lips record; I can't say much more than that. It's got garage stuff, punk stuff, a little of that Atlanta hip-hop. It's just who we are. I think it sounds good."
The band last relaesed 200 Million Thousand in 2009.
