Sunday Edition: May 30th, 2010
Hello everybody and welcome to Navel Gazing: your look back at the week in Punknews. I'm Adam White and I'll be your guide through some of the most popular, notable, and otherwise attention getting stories of the past seven days. Each and every Punknews story is built from tips contributed by you fine folks, and here's what got the community talking this week:
- A number of bands including Rage Against The Machine, Rise Against, Sonic Youth are officially boycotting Arizona over the controversial immigration law
- Jay Bentley, one of my favourite people in the world, chatted about the new Bad Religion album
- NOFX's Fat Mike revealed the truth about the Cokie The Clown incident at SXSW, although I'm suspicious we'll learn that he peed in the second bottle as well (and so on to infinitum)
- Oklahoma City's Red City Radio signed to Paper and Plastick and the Punknews commenter community was absolutely stoked. I'm serious. Hurray for rare glimpses of snark-free positivity.
- New Found Glory is touring with Lemuria and The Wonder Years this August.
- Anti-Flag, The Menzingers and The Max Levine Ensemble will soon play a benefit show to raise funds and awareness for We Are Family, an organization that supports low-income, isolated seniors in inner-city DC.
- Punkcore Records is converting to a mail order shop and won't be releasing any new records themselves. The studded-belt crowd need a new champion...
With that we hand over this Sunday evening to you, the Punknews community. From that glorious, likely bearded rabble we've see the creation of everything from message boards and Punknews fantasy sports leagues to even a band or two. So talk amongst yourselves and we'll see you Monday...
