Opinion: Drive Thru Records, Drive Thru Schmeckards

I have a little something to say about our pals at Drive Thru Records. At the Buffalo Warped Tour last night, Drive Thru had their stage set up right next to the tiny, almost invisible Punkrocks.net stage. Now, the funny thing is Drive Thru had a sign posted stating that if any band on the Punkrocks.net stage even went over their set time limit by a few minutes, that they would be washed out by Drive Thru's huge dynamic sound system. I saw this first hand when Unearth, who are playing a few dates on the tour, were indeed washed out by one of Drive Thru's cookie cutter emo poop punk bands. It does not end there, read below for the entire Rant.Just so we don't have fire and brimstone rained down on us from above: Kip's opinions are his own and do not necessarily reflect the views of the staff or advertisers of Punknews.Org

I have a little something to say about our pals at Drive Thru Records. At the Buffalo Warped Tour last night, Drive Thru had their stage set up right next to the tiny, almost invisible Punkrocks.net stage. Now, the funny thing is Drive Thru had a sign posted stating that if any band on the Punkbands.com stage even went over their set time limit by a few minutes, that they would be washed out by Drive Thru's huge dynamic sound system. I saw this first hand when Unearth, who are playing a few dates on the tour, were indeed washed out by one of Drive Thru's cookie cutter emo poop punk bands. I just cannot fathom why you would treat a band you were touring with like that. Not only that, but some of the assholes working at their stage made things hard for bands to move their equipment to the Punkrocks.net stage. They bitched about keeping others out of their "area" as if they were hiding nuclear weapons back there. This all seems so funny to me because Drive Thru in my opinion already has a really shitty reputation outside of their dedicated yet pathetic fan base, it seems the Warped Tour would be a fine chance for them to at least attempt to shed their money grubbing, scene exploiting skin but alas, they once again prove what a bunch of elitist assholes they truly are. Don't front it Drive Thru, you ARE indeed a major label with no variety in your music, and from all accounts your bands and staff have shitty major label attitudes. Now, just for the record, these are my opinions and my opinions alone, so if Drive Thru wants to take legal action for me saying bad things about them on the internet, take it up with me, not this website. You know, once apon a time kids who wanted to start a pop punk band would take inspiration from bands like The Adicts, Screeching Weasel and The Ramones and they did not feel that every song they wrote had to be about some lost love or some girl they like. They also did not have to go around dressed like a walking CCS catalog just to fit in. Fuck Drive Thru. One final note. This rant! was written in the heat of anger, and yeah I was and still am quite pissed. But it would be unfair to leave the impression that I think all Drive Thru bands suck and everyone who works there sucks, too. As you might assume, I don't really listen to their music, so it is conceivable that I might not think that everything they put out is crap if I was to give it the chance, which I will not do. Also, I do not know anyone who works for the label personally, so I can neither confirm or deny that they are indeed assholes. It is just that the label continually seems to shit on the scene that got them where they are right now. And if Homegrown did wait around for a band to finish at the Punkrocks.net, as was stated by a replier, props to them, but I was not a witness. FYI, Punknews.org did not ask me to write this little add on, I just figured it was neccesary.
