Here's your question and answer of the week from the Punknews Formspring:

Q: why do many musicians today admire joe strummer more than henry rollins or ian mackaye? is it cause Joe is no longer alive?

A: It's all a matter of opinion. As far as punk icons go, they'd all be on my Mt. Rushmore. There's plenty of praise to go around for all of them, and I feel like it does. Strummer's reach with The Clash was a little wider than those of MacKaye or Rollins with their respective projects, so maybe that has something to do with him being perhaps more influential.
