Here's your question and answer of the week from the Punknews Formspring:

Q: Did you go to a record store on Record Store Day this year?

A:
Nope. I don't know if any of the editors did. I like the concept but the execution has becoming increasingly annoying. Last year I went to get the two Joe Strummer LP's and I ended up having to stand in a single file line that led to a table where all the Record Store Day releases were. You would then ask an employee if they had the release you were looking for and they would dig through a box and let you know. That's not record shopping. It didn't help that after RSD a bunch more copies of those LPs were made available online.
This year I skipped the rush and only bought two records online. There wasn't much "exclusive" that I was into and it just seems to be becoming an event for major labels to piggyback on for free promotion (I love Lady Gaga but does she need a RSD 12", really?). I'll support my local store the other 364 days out of the year.
