Hank Williams III talks about fathers controversial statements
Punk/country singer Hank Williams III has weighed in the controversy surrounding his father's comparison of Obama to Hitler on Fox & Friends yesteday. Williams' father, who is also the voice of Monday Night Football, stoked the controversy by suggesting that House Speaker Boehner meeting with the current President of the United States was like meeting with Hitler. Williams III didn't go so far as to defend his father, but noted via TMZ:
My Dad should not talk politics. Most musicians are "not worthy" of a political discussion. The only person out there worthy of mixing political views and music is Jello Biafra. I'm a musician ... not a politician.
Williams Jr. has since apologized, but didn't back down when even the Fox hosts were taken aback. Anchor Gretchen Carlson gave him an out: "You used the name of one of the most hated people in all the world to describe, I think, the president" which he responded with "That's true. But I'm telling you like it is."
