Autographed CD winning entry - Louis
So, why do i deserve autographed box car racer stuff you ask… well, let me explain… BECAUSE MY GIRLFRIEND IS A WHORE, and you see, she's a really big box car racer fan, and well, she knows about this contest and i told her if i won i would give the autographed stuff to her… but i don't plan on giving it to her if (and you can make that "if" a "when") i win… i plan on telling her how lucky i am to have won the contest then immediately telling her how unlucky she is that i know she's been cheating on me, then tell the bitch to get lost and that she can't have the box car racer cd! yes i am an evil genius i know *insert miniacal laugh* but to make this plan a reality i need your help… so with that said i leave you to finish searching through the massive amounts of entries for this contest, but remember, who else is going to put the winnings to such a diabolical use?
Autographed poster winning entry #1 - Barry
I believe that I should receive the autographed Boxcar Racer merchandise because ever since I was a little kid my mother would tell me every night that contrary to my own beliefs that my life had a purpose. She went on to explain that one day, the 2nd of November, I would win a contest, this contest. So you see if I do not when this contest then you will be labeling my mom a liar and my life has never or never will have a purpose. Please don't do that to me, make the correct decision.
Autographed poster winning entry #2 - Jeff
Alright, here's the deal. I'm sure I could easily say Iâm dying of cancer and my only wish is to have signed boxcar racer paraphernalia. Likewise, I could play off your hatred of boxcar racer and say I want the signed stuff so that I can burn it. But Iâve decided to just be honest and hope that you will read this in its entirety and judge my situation fairly.
Well, it all started a while back when I met this girl named Narissa. It was an odd occasion for me since Iâm a, well, not so attractive guy, and Narissa, well, sheâs extremely attractive. In fact, I had seen her in the halls at school before, and I recall thinking, "that's the kind of girl that would never even give me the time of day." Upon meeting her, one thing became apparent; Narissa was obsessed with blink-182. I remember the first time I went to her house; I was amazed, for every wall in her room was smothered in blink-182 posters. It eventually became obvious that Narissa fancied Tom Delonge. Haha. Actually, "eventually," may be a bad choice in diction, "from day one," seems more appropriate. She would always talk about how hot he was and how much she wanted him.
Before I knew it, I realized I liked Narissa… a lot. She was/is everything I want in a girl. She was always so incredibly sweet to me, so fun, so playful, so lovable, and so smart. (And we all know how hard it is to find a smart girl who is attractive) All in all, she was just perfect.
She always made me happy. Even when she wasn't around, just knowing that i knew her, kept me happy.
Well eventually Narissa got word that Tom had started a new band with Travis called, Boxcar Racer. I remember how anxious she was to listen to them; she would talk about them all the time. (And I was actually interested in hearing them too. I had never been the biggest fan of tom, but Travis is a spectacular drummer and I had read some articles on how they had been inspired to create the band, by bands such as, The Used, and Fugazi) Well, the day finally came when the Boxcar Racer CD was do to be released. I remember Narissa was waiting outside Best Buy at seven in the morning, waiting for it to open. Personally, I thought she was crazy, there wasn't even a line, and furthermore, there were other music stores in town that opened up at 11:00 am. But Narissa didn't mind being up early and waiting, she wanted to listen to this CD as soon as possible.
Well, she bought the CD and I popped it into my car CD player. The first song started. The intro pleased me because it was in drop D. But as soon as the singing started, the music just seemed to get worse and worse. The guitar riffs seemed to be completely incoherent and thrown in at random parts of the song. The lyrics were utterly cliché. And as the CD Progressed, I just grew to hate it even more than before. Narissa, however, was absolutely thrilled. She instantly feel in love with Boxcar Racer.
Ever since that day, she hasn't listened to any other CD.
Narissa eventually became impatient with MCA's creating of Boxcar Racer merchandise. She wanted to show the whole world how much she loved Boxcar Racer. So, she went out one day and bought a bunch of plain-colored shirts and permanent markers. She began to make her own Boxcar racer shirts. To this day, sheâs made ten, and she wears them all the time. In due time, she took down a lot of her blink-182 posters and made her own Boxcar Racer posters and put them up.
More recently, Narissa caught word that Boxcar Racer was on tour. As soon as she could, she got online and found out the tour date that was closest to home. The closest location was Austin, Texas. Now Austin is a four hour drive from where we live, and more importantly, a full tank of gas. But Narissa didn't care; she was determined to do anything to get to see this band. So she saved up the money and on this past Saturday, she and a friend drove up to Austin and paid twenty bucks, just to see Boxcar Racer. (I know that The Used and H20 were also playing, but they had, unfortunately, never heard of either band, and were just going to see Boxcar Racer.) So in all reality, she paid sixty bucks. Twenty for gas on the way up, twenty for the ticket, and twenty for gas on the way back. And spent eight hours, round trip, just to see them.
When she returned, I wasn't surprised to find that Narissa had purchased every piece of merchandise that was for sell. She spent $280 on merchandise alone. She told me about how great the band was and how absolutely happy she was that she got to see them. But she did, however, have a grievance.
She was completely crushed that she didnât get to meet the band, or have any of her stuff she bought signed. She kept telling me about how close she was to them, and how much she wanted to tell them how great they were. She kept telling me how happy she would be, just to know she owned something that they touched, and that they wrote on.
Which brings me to this contest. See, Narissa makes me happier than anything else. She is to me, what Boxcar racer is to her. And I want some way to be able to return that happiness; moreover, I want someway to let her know how she makes me feel. Unfortunately, I'm not a man with very much money. I work full-time, just so I can barely make ends meet. And unfortunately, all of the signed Boxcar racer stuff online sells for over a hundred dollars. Which is why I was thrilled when I went to punknews.org today, in search of a review on the new Thursday EP, and I found this contest.
Here's my claim on why I need this:
I am certain that there is no bigger fan of boxcar racer than Narissa is.
Therefore, no single person would appreciate this prize the way she would.
She would be so thrilled, you have no clue. Furthermore, Narissa is such an excellent person, she is so good-hearted, and she tries so hard, she deserves something good to happen to her. And finally, to let me give her something like this, would be giving me the opportunity to make her happy in the way that she makes me happy. I'm looking for a way to let her know that I have feelings for her beyond a friendship, and I seriously can't think of a better way to show her. I can not tell you in words how much I need this prize. Please consider my situation.
