Beastie Boys, GoldieBlox settle lawsuit
The Beastie Boys and toy company GoldieBlox have settled their lawsuit, according to The Hollywood Reporter. GoldieBlox initally filed a preemptive suit against the band in 2013, and the band filed a counter-suit claiming copyright and trademark infringement over the company's use of the song "Girls" in an advertising campaign. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
The band required the toy company to publish an apology and make a donation based on a percentage of its revenues to a charity selected by the Beastie Boys that supports science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education for girls. The company will also not be allowed to use "Girls" or any variation thereof in their marketing materials.
