Philly councilman introduces bill requiring performer registration and police authorization
In a story that we swear we are not making up, a Philadelphia councilman has introduced a bill that would require venue owners to collect contact information of artists performing at their establishments. Further, once that information is collected, the Police then have the authority to grant or deny a temporary performance license. The bill, which was introduced by City Councilman Mark Squilla, would amend Section 9-703 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Special Assembly Occupancies." You can contact contact Councilman Squilla’s office by calling (215) 686-3458 or (215) 686-3459 or sending a fax to (215) 686-1931.
