The Star Spangles Sign To Capitol

Capital Records has signed New
York's Star Spangles. The press
release describes the group as inspired by Bowery bands like the Ramones and the
Heartbreakers (with a bit of the Replacements for good measure). They'll release their debut full
length "Bazooka!!!" on August 19th. The record was apparently worked
on while the band was in their late teens and recently finished off with Ramones
producer Daniel Rey. The upcoming album includes two covers. One is of
"Crime of the Century," a Johnny Thunders / Wayne Kramer song from an
old Gang War bootleg. The second is "I'll Get Her Back," a take on
"I Want You Back" by the Hoodoo Gurus.

The Star Spangles have recently
completed their third U.K. tours and have released two singles overseas. They're
currently touring with New Zealand buzz band The Datsuns. Click below for the
