Funeralbloom: "The Romance of Crime" (Punknews Exclusive)
Today, Punknews is excited to debut the new video by Funeralbloom!
"The Romance of Crime" is one of two songs off the band's upcoming EP. On the extended track, the band blends post-rock with death metal to create an eerie, drifting ambiance. Somwhow, the track is both heavy as hell and light as gossamer at once.
Speaking to Punknews about the video, frontman Austin Curtis said, "'The Romance of Crime' is about how crime and defiance, instead of an ordinary existence, is a saintly and romantic endeavor. When I wrote the song, I felt vulnerable and overly sentimental, and I dreamed of being tough and feeling invincible. The lyrics were heavily based on Jean Genet's works and life as a petty thief. I felt an affinity to living a life without fear and the freedom and lack thereof that it brings. I was influenced by the defiance of his writing, and the song reflects that defiance as being something holy."
The song is off The Romance Of Crime & Your Beautiful Bones, out this Friday. You can pre-order that here, here, or here! Meanwhile, check out the new video below, right now!
