The John-Pauls: "Now Won" (Punknews Exclusive)
Today, Punknews is pleased to debut the new video by The John-Pauls.
"Now Won" finds the band swimming through fuzzy waves that are paradoxically heavy as well as vaporous. Singer Mikila John-Paul calls out in a voice that's as plaintive as it is vulnerable. Patti Smith fronting new Order might sound something like this.
Speaking to Punknews, video director Phillip Niemeyer (who is an avid lap swimmer) said "'Now Won' by The John-Pauls is about the joy of the moment and the transience of memory. I photographed swimming pools in Austin, Texas, daily, over the course of six months. The footage, of the same two pools, never repeats." Fittingly, he then quotes Heraclitus "No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.”
The bands new album Forget to Remember to Forget” is out May 5 2017 via Aagoo Records. Pre-order that right here! Then, check out the new video below!
