Boots Riley's 'Sorry to Bother You' debuts at Sundance

Boots Riley of The Coup has recently completed his film, Sorry to Bother You. This past week, the film debuted at Sundance to rave reviews. Details of the film were released at its debut. The film follows Cassius Green (Lakeith Stanfield) who works as a telemarker. After poor performance ratings, Cassius is told be a co-worker (Danny Glover), to speak more "white." Cassius' white voice (dubbed by David Cross) earns him record sales and promotions. This causes Cassius to have to choose between siding with his co-workers or crossing the union line to work as an executive and, apparently, the whole thing gets crazier from there. Riley is currently working on a distribution deal for the film. The Coup released the album Sorry to Bother You in 2012, which, originally planned as a soundtrack to the film, is now considered a separate project.
