To celebrate the 8th year of the festival, we have asked a This Is A Standoff, Brutal Youth, Pkew Pkew Pkew and Ellen and the Degenerates a few questions as a apart of our mini-interview series and here are their responses.

Steve Rawles of This Is A Standoff

Is this your first time playing Pouzza Fest? If yes, did you come for the poutine?

First time playing with This Is A Standoff. I was there a couple years ago with Belvedere and it was rad. I came for the rock but stayed for the poutine.

What band(s) on the Pouzza line up are you stoked to see or play with?

Walt Hamburger, Fire Next Time. Julius Sumner Miller, Chixdiggit. I would say more but we’re only there for the Saturday unfortunately.

Is there was a band on the Pouzza line up this year that you would want to collaborate with, who would that be and what would you hypothetically work on?

Walt and I would work on formulating a good offense for the Green Bay Packers. Especially since my Seahawks have given away all their good players . Ha!

What is the best thing about Montreal? What makes it unique for you?

The people at the shows have been there for us since day one. Union Label Group has always been supportive of my bands since I started touring Montreal and it’s always great to see them when we roll through. Chris Snelgrove booked our first show in Montreal and let us sleep on his floor. I maybe got a bed. Burger King on St.Catherines to all the rad venues we’ve played. It’s just been a special place for us.

Would you ever try Pouzza? (Pizza and Poutine together)

Tell me where I might find this mythical creature and I’ll try it.

Patty O’Lantern of Brutal Youth

Is this your first time playing Pouzza Fest?

We've played Pouzza Fest a bunch of times and we keep coming back because Kyle keeps losing his keys. So we have to keep coming back to try and find them. The biggest problem is the Pouzzafolks keep booking us at different venues so if makes it extra tough to try to find them. Oh, also the battery in my phone loses its charge fast and the flashlight app doesn't stay on super long, so it's been a tough go.

What band(s) on the Pouzza line up are you stoked to see or play with?

School Damage, Creepshow, Wasted Potential, After the Fall, Boids, Penske File, Lost Love… I don't know if there's a bad band playing to be honest. Except maybe School Damage.

Is there was a band on the Pouzza line up this year that you would want to collaborate with, who would that be and what would you hypothetically work on?

Every band I just mentioned. Especially School Damage, we could help them work on their haircuts and maybe get one another in better shape. Maybe do a split… or split a pizza.

What is the best thing about Montreal? What makes it unique for you?

The best thing about Montreal is the culture. The most unique thing is the cops pants.

I've tried it and I had to get two elbow surgeries as a consequence Photo by Jeff Crespi.

PKEW PKEW PKEW

Is this your first time playing Pouzza Fest? If no, how many times before and what years?

No, we've played 2 or 3 other Pouzza’s. I don't know what years.

What band(s) on the Pouzza line up are you stoked to see or play with?

Such Gold, The Flag, The Fish, Astronautalis, Junior Battles, Bad Waitress, Ivan Rivers, Stuck Out Here, Taking Meds, Timeshares, The Penske File, Typesetter, Nightmarathons, Dead Broke, Brutal Youth, and The Creepshow.

Is there was a band on the Pouzza line up this year that you would want to collaborate with, who would that be and what would you hypothetically work on?

We would collab with The Penske File and Anti-Flag because 3 + 4 + 4 = 11 and that's enough for a football team. And, we would challenge anyone in Montreal to play us Sunday afternoon in one of those parks you can drink in if you pretend you're eating a bag of chips. AND, this isn't hypothetical is it, right guys?! Right?

What is the best thing about Montreal? What makes it unique for you?

Football. Football.

Would you ever try Pouzza? (Pizza and Poutine together)

FOOTBALL. FOOTBALL! (just to be clear. I mean the kind where you throw the ball with your hands.)

Ellen And The Degenerates

Is this your first time playing Pouzza Fest? If yes, did you come for the poutine?

This is Ellen’s first time playing Pouzza Fest and we’re excited! It’s even a first time visiting Montreal for some of us! Elena hates gravy, so she’ll just have fries if that’s OK. Merci!

What band(s) on the Pouzza line up are you stoked to see or play with?

We’re stoked to see Sister Munch, Nervous Dater, Hard Pass, Taking Meds, The Up! Up! Ups!, Ramona, Good Looking Friends, Stay Inside, Timeshares, The Penske File, War on Women, Mutoid Man, and PKEW PKEW PKEW!

Is there was a band on the Pouzza line up this year that you would want to collaborate with, who would that be and what would you hypothetically work on?

We love Sister Munch so much and have played a bunch of shows with them… we think they love us, too? (☐yes ☐no ☐maybe). It would be great to collaborate with them since we’re both based in Brooklyn. We’d also love to play with PKEW PKEW PKEW again!

What is the best thing about Montreal? What makes it unique for you?

For those of us who haven’t been there, we’re very excited to walk around and see the city and try some food. It seems like a very pretty place from what Google tells us.
