Universal Music Group to cut CD prices

"CNN reports that Universal Music Group (owned by Vivendi) will cut the MSRP for their catalog from $18.98 to $12.98. Prices are set to go into effect on Oct. 1 and will include both new and old releases."

While you may not think this is punk-related, think again - Universal owns Geffen, Island, Dreamworks, and many more; all labels that you probably own a CD or two from. This price reduction should carry through - hopefully - all the way to your local mom-and-pop indie store.
