Ignite's Zoli Officially Fronting The Misfits,
In a very strange series of events over the last few months, Ignite's lead singer Zoli Teglas is now doing vocals for punk legends The Misfits, replacing lead singer Michael Graves after his departer. Drummer Dr. Chud is also leaving the band after walking off stage with Graves midway through a show on October 25th at the House of Blues in Orlando, Florida. Chud is being replaced by NYC drummer Renfield (Candiria). This is all pretty strange, because Zoli was the one who told me that original singer Glenn Danzig would be rejoining The Misfits for a tour this fall/winter season. That news caused quite a stir across the internet, and was later shot down as false when MTV.COM questioned Glenn about it. Then, last monday, Jay Bentley of Bad Religion(who had just come off of tour with Ignite) told me about Zoli joining The 'Fits in Canada. That news was unconfirmed until today when The Official Misfits Website was updated, and made the lineup change public. Does this all seem a little strange to anyone out there? I cannot deny Zoli his credit, he has one of the most dynamic voices in the punk scene today, and I trust he will make a great front man in The Misfits. But I still cannot figure out why Zoli would tell me that Glenn Danzig was to rejoin The Misfits, and then take the lead vocal slot himself months later. It will be interesting to see if Michale Graves and Dr. Chud will have any jaded comments after being part of The Misfits most financially successful time period in 25 years of existance.
