Alright
Alright [7-inch] (2015)

There’s no shortage of fuzz punk nowadays. Alright is a band able to balance distortion and harmony equally.
The EP opens with run-of-the-mill track “Mixed Signals,†but there are bright spots throughout, most notably Sarah Blumenthal’s voice. The female/male vocal dynamic is reminiscent of Lemuria, except the latter has had years to perfect the experience.
“Cold Feet†and “Watercolors†bring Joshua Robbins’ Late Bloomer influence out a lot more. This allows the music to wander, differentiating Alright from the pack. The bass also becomes a bigger presence. The sheer amount of riffs and solos packed tightly into these short songs is impressive.
The fourth and final track, “Pollen & Allergies,†is where the band really comes into their own. Far and away the best track on the EP, it gathers all of the young group's best qualities into an excellent end result. It's this perfect balance of chunky riffs and lighthearted vocals where Alright show the most promise. Their music is fun, and Blumenthal is the glue that keeps it all together.
