Radon / Worthwhile Way
Split [7-inch] (2015)

This is the second release in the double-split series that Gainesville's Radon did late in 2015. Â I definitely dig the Radon song "Headaches and Bullshit" more than the song "Volume 1 Brooklyn" on their other split with Shallow Cuts. Â It starts off slow but it really hits its stride around the 1:05 mark and carries on pretty strong for the next seventy-five seconds or so until the song ends. Â It does have one of those "na na na na" parts that I really hate, but I'll give them a pass because they're RADON and, in case you didn't know, I love Radon and I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and give them a pass on such things. Â The lyrics this time around are a lot less playful and a lot more angry. Â
The other track comes from Japan's Worthwhile Way.  This song "After the Rain Comes Sunshine" is about twice as long (just shy of four minutes) but it's a catchy song.  It has that 90's pop-punk/alternative sound with female vocals.  The lyrics are exactly what you would expect from the title - it's upbeat and positive.  Admittedly, it is evident that English is at least a second language for Worthwhile Way, but the feeling of happiness  and positivity after something negative in your life comes across clearly enough.
It's worth mentioning that since these two songs constitute the entire record both songs balance each other nicely. Â Radon is obviously pissed while Worthwhile Way is optimistic and upbeat. Â If you want to take it to another level, these songs perfectly complement each other because the Radon song almost exemplifies the rain suggested in the Worthwhile Way song that will eventually lead to sunshine and happiness. Â Overall, a very nice package and two great songs. Â What more could you ask for?
