Goodnight Sweetheart, The Stitches Are Coming Apart (2001)

First off, let me just say this band is very creative with how they name things. Judging from the cover and from their various other merch with similair imagery, the "stitches" they refer to in the title are dealing with slit wrists.

Well, I have to say as a whole EP, their other one, Human Beings Are Too Shallow To Fall in Love, is better in my opinion. With this EP, there is more singing, which can be good, but with Showbread, I'd rather have the screaming/hardcore yelling. The singing on this disc just doesn't do it for me as much as on Human Beings.

I'm not saying this isn't a good collection of songs, it is a rather creative EP, and I do enjoy it. There are five songs, and it clocks in at 27 minutes and some odd seconds.

First off, let's talk about the aforementioned singing. Four of the five songs are more sung than screamed/yelled. The opener "I Am A Machine Gun" is a great hardcore song with plenty of yelling for me and is a great song. It just kind of gives a wrong impression for the rest of the CD.

The rest of the songs are mostly sung, and a there is a good bit of screaming background vocals. On a few songs there is even two singers going at the same time, singing the same thing, just one screaming and one singing. It sounds cool, but could be done better.

As far as the creativity with this album that I was talking about, they use some movie clips in two of the songs, and the whole two singer scream/sing thing was cool. There is also a "hidden" song, I guess. It's like a minute after the last song, it's pretty much hardcore. They lyrics and titles with these guys will always be creative, of course.
