The Warren Commission
Rendezvous With You (2000)
Scott Heisel
Before I even put this disc in the player, the band earned major points
for straying from the conventional CD design. Utilizing a neat "spiral
notepad" form of design, the background layout, art, and photos are done
very creatively and flow well with the music. Now, on to the music
itself.
The band seems to be trying very hard to sound like Jejune.
That's not always a bad thing, but the band themselves seem a little bit
disjointed from each other, and the music seems a bit sloppy. I wasn't
a big fan of the lyrics, either, which were a bit nonsensical at times,
but I've read worse. There is definitely talent in this band, it just
might take a few more listens for me to put my finger on it. If you're
into the whole boy/girl vocals thing and are a fan of Rainer Maria and
Jejune, the Warren Commission could be a good choice for a rainy day.
