Minor Threat

Complete Discography (1989)

When the word 'hardcore' is said, what comes to mind? To some, its Victory Records and bands like Earth Crisis and Snapcase. To some, its NYC bands like Agnostic Front and Sick of it All. To some(the idiots) it's bands like Slipknot and Limp Bizkit. Yet to others, its Harcore Holly, the WWF wrestler. Well, to me, hardcore = Minor Threat.

At a time when bands like the Clash and the Ramones were just getting recognition, Minor Threat was making noise of their own. I was 2 years old in 1983, the year they called it quits, but each time I listen to this album, I feel like I'm in the middle of a basement pit. 26 songs, all bursting with talented musicianship and speed, not to mention Straight Edge lyrics, which I'll leave alone. All the songs are taken from 7 inch's and previously released records, but 'Complete Discography' is the jewel for the modern punker. The cd booklet contains a great picture catalog that gives an intimate feel to the whole experience. To make a long story slightly shorter, this album opened up a door to me that has never been closed. I love pop-punk, I love skate punk and thanks to Minor Threat, I love hardcore punk. Every band who plays with the least bit of intensity owes Minor Threat a debt of gratitude, and that's that.
