Screeching Weasel
Boogada Boogada Boogada (1988)
Everyone knows about Screeching Weasel, the punk rock legends out of Chicago, and this is arguably their best album. Ben belts out twenty-six tracks that will get stuck in your head just like that damn "da da da" song used to. This is one of their earlier releases and it shows, but that is what makes it such a great album. There is nothing incredible about the lyrical content of this record, but then again there is. Simplicity is bliss. Songs such as "I believe in UFOs" and "Supermarket Fantasty" tickle your funny bone, along with "This ain't hawaii" and "Mad at paperboy." This is one of those albums that I have had forever, and I still can't stop listening to it. I've had it since 1990 and I still find myself wanting to listen to it periodically. Of course, there is the anthem on the CD, which everyone knows and loves(myself included), "Hey Suburbia", but a couple more of my SW favorites are also on this disc. "My Right" is probably my favorite song ever done by Screeching Weasel. Its one of those songs you just want to listen to and rock your head back and forth to and scream the words out while you're driving down the road. Am I the only one that does that? The cover of "Runaway" is also a very cool addition to the album. I really can't find a song on this album that I dislike, but then again I'm a big fan of SW. I didn't like the Television City Dream album, Teen Punks in Heat was a little better, but still not as great as their older stuff. Well that seems like enough jibba jabba, you get the idea. Peace.
