New Found Glory
New Found Glory (2001)
I saw this one coming from a mile away. NFG decides to abandon their hard rockin' punk sounds for dulled-down power pop love ballads, release it on DriveThru's corporate daddies',MCA, and proceed to try and become the next big thing. The first song, Better Off Dead, is one of NFG's best ever, but after that, the album left me disappointed, if not pissed off. They decided to put Hit or Miss on the CD, after it has been released on their first album and a DriveThru sampler. Not a cool thing to do guys. The rest of the songs are whinny, slower than usually, and mediocre to say the least.Sincerely Me was the only other song I liked, which left me wishing for my money back. I dont know, I guess I'm not a fan of sold out punk rock for the masses, but if you are, this is the album for you. I can see it now; Carson Daly says "that was Blink 182, proceeded by SR-71. Next on our pseudo-punk countdown, a new band called A New Found Glory!"
