Devour
Insect Circuitry [7-inch] (2010)
Brian Shultz
Devour's Insect Circuitry, if I'm listening to it correctly, whips out some mean, slightly crusty hardcore with light tinges of standard '80s, crossover, and O.C. influence. Maybe? I could be off. But that's how it comes off and it's a pretty approvable mesh of it.
I say crossover because "Aranfa Codec" has a definite solo tossed out during its end, and I say O.C. because the vocals have this purely snotty, messy delivery that reminds me of Darby Crash. Things are usually pretty straightforwardly intense and loosely tight, save some prolonged moments of dissonant feedback in "Laugh Track" that provide a little bit of ambitious interluding,
Solid 7" with subtle tinges of something special possibly brewing.
