Pitchfork Media is reporting that The Slits' 1979 debut LP Cut will be reissued on CD by Koch Records on January 25th. The original track list will be expanded with "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" and "Liebe and Romanze", both of which appeared on the earlier UK reissue.
Some condensed history for the uninitiated: The all female band formed in `77 and the same year opened for The Clash on their White Riot tour. In the few years they were together the Slits released only two proper full lengths, Cut and 81's The Return of the Giant Slits (a disc collecting the band's two John Peel sessions showed up a few years later). The Slits disbanded in 1981, with singer Ari Up having the most prominent solo outings in recent years.
