News this week that both San Diego's Counterfit and Noise Ratchet are calling it quits. Counterfit commented on the news:
After five incredible years of playing music, it saddens us to tell you counterfit is calling it quits. This decision was completely mutual, and we all remain as great friends… The biggest possible "thank you" to everyone who has come to a show, sang along, danced, said hello, gave us a floor to sleep on, bought merch, helped us out or supported us in any way. It is because of you we have enjoyed making music for the last 5 years. You know who you are. Thank you all so much.
Counterfit's final recorded work is a new song for the next Atticus… Dragging the Lake compilation. No release date has been announced for it yet. Also, much of the Counterfit's summer tour with Finch and Recover was recorded live, so expect live tracks to appear on the band's website in the near future.
Noise Ratchet announced their departure to their mailing list last week. The statement from the recent American Recordings signees stated:
This has been a bizarre season for the band and through many many conversations and prayers we have decided to move on… Not just move on, but to move forward! It is one of the most bittersweet decisions of our lives, but nonetheless one that we all feel is necessary.
Both bands will share their a final show. The last appearances of Noise Ratchet and Counterfit will take place on December 11th at Ground Zero in El Cajon. Check out Ground Zero Concerts for ticket info.
