The Tripwire is reporting on a proverbial ton of Death Cab For Cutie updates:
Firstly, the band will be finishing out the year by filming a video for "Title and Registration," the third single from Transatlanticism. Directed by Patrick Daughters, the man behind the Yeah Yeah Yeah's "Maps," filming will begin December 2 in Brooklyn, NY. According to MTV News, the other members of Death Cab (guitarist Chris Walla, bassist Nick Harmer and drummer Jason McGerr) operate on front man Ben Gibbard, cutting his chest open with an X-Acto knife. Upon making their incisions, they discover that all of his organs are made of paper and bamboo, like deformed Chinese lanterns, and that he is in need of a heart transplant. With the help of some safety scissors, glue and Scotch tape, they manage to replace his tattered paper heart with a vibrantly beating new one.
"Title and Registration" will be the final video Death Cab will make for Barsuk, as they recently signed with Atlantic Records. However, Barsuk will still get to release a live EP recorded on the band's spring tour. MTV News claims that a track list and title have not yet been determined, though the EP is due in stores on January 25th, 2005.
Also, the band is scheduled to be in the studio starting in February to begin working on the new album.
In related Ben Gibbard news, Sub Pop Records will release We Will Become Silhouettes, the third single from The Postal Service. The tracklisting will include a brand new track, "Be Still My Heart," plus remixes by Matthew Dear and Styrofoam.
