The band that's more active in death than life, Shai Hulud, has posted a huge update on their site regarding their retrospective CD / DVD, the upcoming Zombie Apocalypse / Send More Paramedics split and more. Matt Fox and Matt Fletcher's post-Hulud band The Warmth Of Red Blood is putting together demos to shop around to labels now.
UPDATE: The Warmth Of Red Blood is still the name of the new band.
Greetings and felicitations young squires,
So, it's been a while, eh? What do you expect from a band that is no longer together? I can't believe you're even checking here to begin with- wait, is anyone checking here? Mom, you don't count. What can I tell you. Ah, I can tell you a lot if you care to hear it. I don't have time to wait for a response, I'm going. If you don't care about what's up or what's been going down I suggest not reading any further. You might want to find another site to look at to boot because, like, that's what we discuss here. Knucklehead.,

A Comprehensive Retrospective,
It's done. It's being pressed. It even has a confirmed release date. Uh, I can't remember the date offhand though. I find shiny objects distracting and-- look, a puppy! Shai Hulud's A Comprehensive Retrospective Or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Release Bad And Useless Recordings will be released early next year. That's 2005, smart asses. January or February or so I'm told. I'm serious. The date is set. We'll get it to you soon. Anyway, the CD has Hulud's original demo with Damien Moyal of As Friends Rust / Culture / Morning Again / Damien Done on vocals, Chad's first recording with the band, A 3 song live set at NYU (featuring an S.F.A. cover, if any of you know who that was) warehouse out-takes, and some other crap. This release is all in good fun. We threw on all the stuff we had that we would want to hear were The Dead Milkmen or Thin Lizzy to release such a disc. Definitely, a fanatic or completist type thing. I actually went to see The Dead Milkmen in Philly the other night. What a show. Anyone make it out? I swear, I almost shed a tear.
Hearts Once Nourished Remix / Re-release
How this album sounding the way it does got modestly popular is beyond me. Have you listened to that garbage lately? I can barely make it through myself- hence the necessity of the aforementioned remix, or Re-Zeuss rather. Our metal brother and fellow Voivodian, Zeuss, the engineer behind the impeccable sounds of Hatebreed, Shadows Fall, 100 Demons, etc. was hard at work puttin' perfume on a pig as they say. He has Re-Zeussed our first full length, Hearts Once blah blah and our 3 songs off the follow up split EP The Fall Of Every Man. It sounds mad dope, kid. Honestly, I hated that full length until now. Now, I almost like it. Everything sounds 1000 times better; I can't wait for people to hear it and swear the old version sounds better. I can't wait for that. It'll happen too. Just you watch. What's the occasion for the Re-Zeuss? Here's what looks like is going to happen: Our debut EP, A Profound Hatred Of Man, along with Hearts Once Nourished and our songs of The Fall split are being repackaged with new artwork and such on one convenient CD. I think that means we're officially beat. Anyway, right now we're in the process of touching up the new mixes, and attempting to get permission to include other random Hulud recordings previously released by other labels. Some labels have been overwhelmingly cooperative (Eyeball Records- undoubtedly Jersey's finest); others we have been dreading the mere thought of contacting. At the least, our first 3 releases (mentioned above) will finally make the jump from lame-o Crisis Records to the label that released Start Today, 2 brilliant Burn EP's, and Metalcore's second most underrated and overlooked album, Kingdom Of Lost Souls by Damnation A.D. Man, what a great record. Strongarm's Advent Of A Miracle is Metalcore's most underrated and overlooked by the way. But I digress. This re-release has no release date scheduled but it's all coming together quickly and smoothly. Weird, right? Keep checking here for new info on this project- on all related Hulud projects for that matter, and the occasional obscure Star Trek reference. There's already been three this update.
Shai Hulud DVD
Yes, yes, it's happening. Give us a break dudes. We're taking care of so much stuff over here we can barely keep our terrible website updated. Fletcher and I also joined a gym. We're trying to find time to get in shape as well. Quit bitching about everything. We're only human. We have needs and wants too. Personally, I'm still waiting for 29th Street to be released on DVD. But patiently I wait. No lesson learned from any of you course. Yes, the DVD. Being worked on. We have a lot of footage to sift through. The DVD will cover the band from top to bottom. Should be neat to hear how badly we played in our formative years, and hilarious to see how little we improved years later. Also, as some of you know, we will be collecting pictures of Shai Hulud tattoos for a gallery to be included on the DVD tentatively titled Pray Not A Fallen Banner. We haven't made an official request because, well, we're just not ready quite yet. If you or any of your friends have a Shai Hulud tattoo, get some quality pictures ready and keep checking here for details. Soon there will be an official request where some information will be requested in addition to the picture of your lovely tattoo. That's that. Keep your collective panty hose on.
The Warmth Of Red Blood News
The name of Shai Hulud's continuation is out. We didn't really want to reveal it until everything was ready to go, but God knows when that will be, so we figured what the hell. Believe it or not, this is what takes up most of our time. If we had our druthers, we'd have other people handle all the other crap that comes along with being in a band. What most bands seem to forget is that the music and the lyrics are paramount. We haven't forgotten. The majority of our time, while we're not updating the site, getting the DVD or retrospective CD ready, goes to writing, re-writing, re-writing again, scrapping entirely, re-working only to again re-write music and words that flow as perfectly as idiots are capable of. That's what we do, because that's what's most important to us. We should hope that's what's most important to you as well. We have 3 just about completed songs, with many more in the wings. All three songs are titled. As much as I think it would be premature to give away the titles-- eh, screw it, here they are, in alphabetical order: "By Moonlight A Funeral," "If A Mountain Be My Obstacle," and "To Bear The Brunt Of Many Blades". Don't expect to hear them any time soon. We're first recording a demo for labels. You'll hear them when they appear on the first full length.
You must be wondering about our singer status. First, thanks to everyone that sent CD's to us. They were great fun to listen to and we were very flattered by the amount we received. Very kind- all of you. So, the singer status. We have a few people we are more than seriously considering. We hope to make a final decision within… I don't know, within some span of time. If you have been on the fence about contacting us regarding this position, sh!t or get off the pot- that's referring more to those on the toilet, of course. We are still accepting vocal auditions. All the info is on that splash page you just saw. If you have the slightest interest in this position, delay no longer. Time is running. Time is running. Time is running. Time is running…out.
Zombie Apocalypse / Send More Paramedics Split
Might as well plug Zombie. We will be recording 5 songs for a split release with our fellow and friendly undead, Send More Paramedics. We've heard their tracks, and they sure shred. Ours? Well, not to toot our zombie horns, but yeah, they shred as well. We spent 4 hours tonight working on one 5 second section in fact (a 5 second section of a song over 4 minutes, if you can believe that). That's how we work it over here. Nothing but the best for you folks. For more Zombie info stop looking here and bookmark www.mortiviventi.com. That's Zombie Apocalypse's official substitution of illusion. Peep it.
New Website (Although we already technically died, kind of)
New website before we die. New website before we die. Now you've heard it two more times than you ever cared to. If you had any sense, you'd have stopped believing it years ago. Truth is we're working on it very slowly. It's the least of our priorities, nonetheless, we're making progress. It won't be too fancy- just some more info, pictures, etc, you know, the stuff a real website has. Like that other Shai Hulud site. That guy does a great job. If we want to know where we've been or what we're doing we check there first. I'd give you the site address, but I always click a link somewhere. Check that site out if you can. Mad props to it and he/she who handles it. There are some great live downloads available to check out- in particular one from '98 in Chicago with Chad on vocals. That was a great show. Go hear for yourself--how in tarnation did he get that? If you need the link, poke around on the message board. You'll be insulted immediately for asking, but afterwards someone might be nice enough to offer up the link.
That, my friends, is all I can think of to write about this time around. All bases seem covered. Thanks to everyone that has kept in touch with us and sent queries about our status. So very thoughtful. We greatly appreciate the effort. We try to respond to every email, unfortunately, it's not always possible. We do read and cherish every email we get. Sounds corny, but it's true. Means a lot to us. You know the drill, words cannot express… Thanks again. We every intention of seeing you all soon. If you have anything you care to say, don't be bashful. Drop us a line. sometimes your emails keep us going more than anything else.
Until death,
Fox and Huludicidal
