G7 Welcoming Committee Records just unleashed a new newsletter, and as I mine it for individual band news here's a few label happenings in the works for 2005. First the label will release a compilation soon featuring unreleased tracks by "every band that has one" including Propagandhi, Randy, Hiretsukan, Warsawpack, Malefaction, Greg MacPherson, Submission Hold, Mico, Clann Zú, The Weakerthans and Rhythm Activism. The label is "debating holding a contest" to name the comp, with the grand prize being free admission to every show by every G7 band (even the ones that no longer exist) for the rest of your life. Send your suggestions in to info@g7welcomingcommittee.com by next week.

Also the label is toying with the idea of putting together their first ever DVD. It's still in planning stages, as per the newsletter:

So I'm still drunk from last nite's straight-edge hardcore show and in hopes of not having to write this stupid newsletter, I got it in my head that I'd start planning a G7 DVD instead. That seems much more interesting to me than writing this garbage newsletter, but Derek says I have to finish this first and that we have no money to take on anything new and that he doesn't even know why we're still doing any of this anyways and often just wishes he were dead … did I just type that out loud? Anyways, if any G7 bands are reading this, please email me if you are interested in this idea (the DVD, not derek's death). I think it'd be rad.
