Toronto's Three Gut Records will be closing its doors later this year as label principles Lisa Moran and Tyler Clark Burke move on to other projects. Since it's inception in 1999 the label has put out music by the Constantines, Royal City, Cuff The Duke, Jim Guthrie, Oneida, Sea Snakes and Gentleman Reg. From their website: I'm sorry I haven't had the heart to tell you this sooner. I've been struggling with my words. Trying to be graceful with my timing and delivering but I'm just going to stick with my bad timing and clumsy ways and lay it on you. The Constantines new album, Tournament of Hearts will be the last official release for Three Gut Records. It's bitter sweet, for sure - but, I can't really think of a better cap to seal the vault with.
Sorry to be sentimental on a website, but here goes: the last 5-years have been the best and most life-altering for me thanks to TGR. I feel a part of the most amazing community of creative friends. Travel, adventure, rock shows, laughter, new friends, satisfying work, so much learning, so much kindness and the loveliest people to cause a little ruckus with.
There was never a master plan for Three Gut. Which I suppose is our greatest strength and weakness all wrapped up in one! There is no real long winded reason. It just feels like it's time to move on. We really succeeded so early on with our goal to get people out to our friends shows and let them hear the music that we loved so much. It turned out doing that was really fun - so we kept at it…

Sweating it out in my room.
Just got back from spending 3-weeks in Europe with Oneida. I wish I was able to find the words to say how amazing it was to be inside the O for a few weeks. Watching the dialogue between the band on stage, watching how people reacted to the music - crazy inspiring… Every moment in Italy was perspective shifting. For those in Canada - Oneida will be playing 2 shows here to celebrate the release of The Wedding. August 20 at the TGR 5-Year Anniversary party in Toronto with the Constantines, Kinski and Oakley Hall and the 21st in Montreal with Kinski and Oakley Hall.
It's sticky hot here in Toronto and the air-quality advisory is in full effect. 30 and smoggy straight in to the weekend. It's nice to be riding my bike again. There has to be swimming in the near future. David Miller - when will the city fill the pools

We have been so lucky to have been supported by so many people who gave advice, let the bands sleep on their floors, came to the shows, bought the albums, told their friends about the bands, were patient with our output, and supportive of our choices.
The label was never just one or two people - it was always the bands and the people around us who helped with so much. Stuffing envelopes, taking photos, making posters, booking shows and on and on… TGR whole-heartedly, unabashedly loves you all for your support. It continues to befuddle me to see how freely people give of their time, ideas, concern and care for this label and the artists on it. We were blessed from day one with a level of support I didn't know could exist.
Maybe I'm naive - but, I don't really feel like this is the 'end'. The friendships, music and collaborations will continue to exist.
So - we'll keep updating this site leading up to and during the release of the new cons album. And we'll tell you about other projects that are on the go for all the TGR artists…. So keep checking back when you can.
I'm listening to the Constantines new album. Steve's singing
"Meet me down at the lake. I said these waves come in from California. You said these waves are all brand new. Summer is easy. Living in the city downtown.
