Coheed and Cambria had a few things to say about their upcoming Columbia Records debut. The record, titled Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV: Volume 1. From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness is due out September 20th.
Vocalist Claudio Sanchez had this to say:
I think it's more of a straight-forward sounding Coheed, The first nine songs of the record are very straightforward and are very smooth. Then when we get to the end of the record, it's a piece called 'The Willing Well,' with four conceptual long tracks. There's a song on it that is called 'The Final Cut,' which is very bluesy [and] Pink Floyd sounding.
The story describes the two single candidates as either Zeppelin or Queen influenced and also that the ongoing narrative of the first two albums takes a temporary detour for three quarters of the album. The record will be followed by Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV: Volume 2 in 2006 or 2007.
The band recently returned from Europe and is performing two dates on the upcoming Zumiez Couch Tour. The band released In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 in 2003 via Equal Vision.
