Pitchfork is reporting that information regarding Death Cab For Cutie's forthcoming major label debut, Plans, has been released. The Chris Walla-produced full-length, which follows up the recent live disc, The John Byrd EP and 2003's Transatlanticism, will be released August 30th via Atlantic. The first expected single is "Soul Meets Body."
Bassist Nick Harmer mentioned the following regarding the album:
I was as apprehensive as the next person going into the process, wondering how involved they were going to be, if they would keep looking over our shoulders. But with all honesty, they just let us do what we needed to do, and as thankful as we are for that, it was strange because we didn't expect it.
The band also has several festivals lined up for the coming months, after which a full North American tour will follow.
