Pitchfork is reporting that the Futureheads have finished recording their sophomore record and spoke with vocalist / guitarist Barry Hyde about the forthcoming release. The record, for which a title has not yet been announced, is set to arrive in April. The band recorded on a farm in Scarborough, England with producer Ben Hillier (Blur, Depeche Mode, Doves), tracking the individual instruments in various structures: "We used the greenhouse for some guitar parts…we put microphones around the courtyard, we recorded the drums in a cowshed and backing vocals in the stables, we recorded percussion parts in the cellar. [We] used as many spaces as we could." The full text of the interview can be found at Pitchfork.
Songs are currently being mixed and include "Worry," "Thursday," "Yes/No," "Cope," "Fallout," "The Return of the Berserker," "Faith," "Knife In The Water," "Back To The Sea" and "Skip To The End" among others. Eleven or twelve songs are expected on the finalized track list. Spring touring in the UK is planned followed by North American dates later in the year, although no concrete details have been announced yet.
The band is following up their 2004 self-titled full length. That effort was produced by Gang of Four's Andy Gill and released via 679 Recordings / Sire.
