Nice Guy Records power pop act the Interns are calling it quits. The band has posted a lengthy statement on their official website detailing the break. Included the following:
This past fall, the three of us, for a variety of reasons, were forced to sit down and re-evaluate our positions in life, our priorities, and where we were headed both as individuals and as a band. Having found what we then believed to be common ground, we were again forced to re-evaluate our situation when Mike accepted a full time job, making any future touring, or even completing our full length in Arizona relatively impossible. After quite a bit of discussion, we collectively decided that any course of action we could possibly take would be a step back rather than a step forward. Rather than limping around Northeast Ohio for rest of the foreseeable future, we have decided to cut our loses and call it quits. While this is certainly not the way we would have liked things to work out, sometimes the ball is in someone else court, so to speak. Unfortunately, the record we began working on with Jamie Woolford, will never be completed. At this point, we have every intention of making the material we recorded this past spring available for download either via the Nice Guy Records site, or Itunes.
The Interns will be playing three final shows. On April 22nd they'll appear at West Liberty State University in West Liberty, WV with Distorted Penguins at a free show. April 29th will see the band at Topcats in Cleveland, OH with Bottom Line and Break Away. Finally things come to a conclusion at the Grog Shop in Cleveland Heights on Saturday, May 13th.
