Jeremy Enigk of both the Fire Theft and influential emo/post-hardcore pioneers Sunny Day Real Estate is currently putting the final touches on his second solo album. The album is the follow up Return of the Frog Quen which was released a decade ago. The album is due out through his own imprint Lewis Hollow Records and distributed through Sony/BMG.
Enigk co-produced the album with Josh Myers mainly in home studios. Many of the tracks were written in the 90s and Enigk describes the sound of the some of the tracks:
The drums are really heavy and the drums are sort of the hook on this song to me; it's not about guitar, it's not about bass. It's all about these drums that just suddenly kick your ass. And it gets really angry. I'm not an angry person, but vocally I just scream and at one point just sound like a fucking lion or something
But the album also promises acoustic tracks and even a "synthy 80s sound" on one song. He is planning a European tour in July to be followed by a stop at Lollapalooza in Chicago on August 4th.
While his more recent project The Fire Theft who recently went on a break, the trio still consider themselves a band and presumably will be regrouping at some point in the future to produce new material.
