Vagrant has signed Lemonheads. The band reformed last summer and began work on their eighth studio album and first in almost a decade with producer Bill Stevenson (Black Flag, Descendents, ALL) who, along with Karl Alvarez (Descendents, ALL) is moonlighting in the band.
Formed in the 80s, the band released three albums on Taang - home of Poison Idea and Slapshot, before signing to Atlantic and rocketing to mainstream success.
Vagrant president Rich Egan had this to say:
The thing I remember most about Vagrant's first year is being locked up in my apartment, drinking coffee, stuffing 7-inches into envelopes and listening to It's A Shame About Ray on cassette all day, every day. If it wasn't for that record, we probably would've left the apartment eventually and given up the label. Nobody writes songs like Evan Dando, nobody sings likes him…the new songs are incredible. He is in top form.
The new album is due out this fall.
