According to a report from MTV, guitarist Dave Baksh has amicably left Sum 41 over "creative differences."

Baksh released a statement saying:

I couldn't continue on creatively in Sum 41 without being a thorn in the side of the band. As people grow, they change, All I can ask is that our fans understand and accept my thanks for being there for me whenever I was feeling happy, sad or depressed.

The first thing Steve [Jocz], Cone [McCaslin] and Deryck [Whibley] told me was that they just want me to be happy. It was awesome to hear that we all had the same feelings,

Dave will instead concentrate on his classic metal project, Brown Brigade. He is currently auditioning vocalists and working on material for the band.

The band most recently released the charity-benefiting disc, Rocked: Sum 41 in the Congo. The DVD documents the popular Ajax, Ontario-based band when they visited the country to produce a documentary only to be evacuated as the country erupted into a Civil War in June of 2004. That incident also inspired the band's most recent full length, Chuck.

The band has kept a low profile as of late though on April 17, 2006 they played at a tribute to Iggy Pop, joining Iggy on stage for "Little Know It All" and "Lust 4 Life".
