Michael Franti of Spearhead recently visited the United Nations Complex in Geneva to participate in a panel, The Human Face of Conflict and Health: Impact on Health Care. Franti was invited to participate after WHO staff viewed Franti's new documentary I Know I'm Not Alone

The panel, which consisted of 50 WHO staffers and members of the United Nations, discussed Franti's film, recent and upcoming WHO activities and the ways in which health is a "bridge to peace." Systems.

The documentary is due out the same day as Yell Fire!, his upcoming album on Anti- Records. Yell Fire! will be in stores on July 25th and features songs inspired by Franti's visit to the Gaza Strip. The non-USO green zone tour inspired both songs on the album, recorded in Kingston, Jamaica and San Francisco, but also a documentary film, I Know I'm Not Alone.

The band will be touring in support of their Anti- debut and followup to Stay Human, as well as Franti's solo album Songs From the Front Porch and slam-poetry release Live at the Baobab. As an activist and musician, Franti has a long history in political music, starting with his punk rock band the Beatnigs, continuing on with the Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy before he settled into his role as singer/songwriter with Spearhead.
