Pitchfork has some details about the latest edition in Fugazi drummer Brendan Canty's Burn To Shine series. In the series Brendan and film maker Christoph Green travel to towns and film local acts performing in houses that are scheduled to be demolished or burned. Each disc documents the house, the performance and the demolition. Canty began the series in 2004.
For the next and third edition of the project recorded in Portland, Canty enlisted the Shins, the Decemberists, Sleater-Kinney, Mirah, and the Gossip. A press release describes the post-show portion of the film as follows:
Filmed as the sun is setting, the DVD concludes with an incredible fire as we watch the house being burned to the ground by the fire department. This is beautifully shot and accompanied by an experimental spoken word piece by Brendan Canty.
The disc is due out August 22 on Trixie DVD.
