Matador Records has signed the Ponys to a "worldwide, multi-album pact." The indie / garage punk act is currently writing material with plans to enter the studio in the fall. Their debut for Matador is scheduled to arrive in early 2007.

The Chicago four piece recently released two critically acclaimed full lengths via In The Red Records, 2004's Jim Diamond produced Laced With Romance and 2005's Steve Albini helmed Celebration Castle. The band features vocalist / guitarist Jared Gummere, bassist / vocalist Melissa Elias, drummer Nathan Jerde and guitarist Brian Case. Case, formerly of 90 Day Men, is a latter addition to the act, replacing guitarist / keyboardist Ian Adams. Adams left the act prior to the release of Celebration Castle to form the Submarine Races.
