Frank Black has assembled his new ensemble is heading out on tour this fall in support of his upcoming double-disc album, Fast Man Raider Man. The quartet, consisting of Black backed by guitarist Duane Jarvis, bassist Eric Drew Feldman, and drummer Billy Block, will be opening for venerable rock act Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers for two dates at Berkeley, California's Greek Theatre for the latter act's 30th anniversary celebration.

Prior to those two shows, Black will be performing acoustically opening for the Foo Fighters, mixing headlining club dates in between shows. With his full band in tow in the fall, Black will be performing a set featuring a mix of cuts from his new album, his output with the Catholics and songs from his best known act, the Pixies.

For Fast Man Raider Man Black again teamed with producer Jon Tiven, who helmed his 2005 release Honeycomb. The new album is described as being "more intense, upbeat" and Black worked with various musicians such as Memphis guitar icon Steve Cropper, The Band's Levon Helm, Al Kooper, Cheap Trick's Tom Petersson, Steve Ferrone of The Heartbreakers, Simon Kirke of Bad Company and Free, songwriter P.F. Sloane, Buddy Miller, Spooner Oldman and Chester Thompson to create the sound.
