This Tuesday, September 12th the Dropkick Murphys headline an charity night to benefit the Leary Firefighters Foundation, a non-profit organization aimed at providing equipment, training and vehicles to firefighters. The free event takes place at the Hard Rock Cafe in Boston and will also feature the Boston Gaelic Fire Brigade Pipes and Drums. More details can be found on the band's website.
The Murphys are currently supporting The Warrior's Code and are set to hit the road soon for a Canadian tour with Bad Religion, Comeback Kid and Clit 45.
Founded in 2000 by actor Denis Leary, the charity was formed after six firefighter his hometown of Worcester, Massachusetts were killed in a massive warehouse fire set by squatters. In response, the comedian founded the Leary Firefighters Foundation, which has since distributed over $6 million (USD) to fire departments in the Worcester, Boston, and New York City areas.
