Alkaline Trio have posted an update as they continue to write for their next album, and work on other projects. The band's drummer, Derek Grant, had this to say:

[We] had another great writing session in Chicago two weeks ago - each song written is better than the last, the demos are sounding great. Still haven't settled on a producer (or a record label) yet.

In the meantime, Heavens play shows, Dan plays bass on a mysterious album, I write R&B songs and try to build a studio to record them in.

The band remains unsigned after their label V2 refocused their business earlier this year. They continue to work on their new album as free agents, with both a new label and release details expected to be confirmed later this year.

The band released Remains their compilation of non-album b-sides, covers and other favorites earlier this year.
