The BBC has announced plans to record an all-star tribute album for The Beatles' legendary Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. The tribute will feature covers by artists such as Oasis, The Killers, Kaiser Chiefs, Travis, Razorlight and James Morrison. The influential album is nearing its 40th anniversary, and to mark the occasion, the performance will be recorded at Abbey Road Studios using the same equipment The Beatles used for the original album.
The tribute is set to air on BBC Radio Two on June 2, 2007. No details have been provided on when the album will be released for purchase.
