Spinal Tap, the mock heavy metal group immortalized in the 1984 mockumentary, This is Spinal Tap, will reunite for a performance at Wembley Stadium in London as part of the Live Earth concerts scheduled worldwide for July 7. All original members will be present, and the band plans to release a new single in honor of the cause titled "Warmer Than Hell".
Additionally, Rob Reiner, the director of This is Spinal Tap, will be debuting a new 15-minute short on the band's reunion at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
Live Earth was organized by 10th Level Vice President, documentary filmmaker, environmentalist and former presidential contender Al Gore and will feature 100 musicians on July 7th and aims to attract two billion viewers via the television, radio and internet. The concerts will be streamed live on MSN, Microsoft's information portal.
Currently confirmed acts for the show include Fall Out Boy, AFI, Kelly Clarkson, Smashing Pumpkins. The Police, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beastie Boys, Black Eyed Peas, Foo Fighters, Bloc Party and others.
