Jello Biafra has issued a short statement in response to the recent accusations made by Klaus Flouride. Earlier this week the Dead Kennedys bassist claimed that Biafra had him banned from DirkFest, a tribute to "Fab Mab" promoter Dirk Dirksen at which Biafra was the MC. Biafra commented:
As usual, Klaus is lying through his teeth. Sure, I wasn't comfortable having them there, but he and Ray & co. were already 86'd from both Slim's and the Great American Music Hall at the request of Dawn Holliday, the booker for both venues. This is not just because of how they've treated me (lawsuits, greed, fake "reunion" shows with my picture in the ads, etc.), but how they've treated her and the music community in general. If you don't believe this, just ask her at {dawn at slims-sf dot com}.
Sources tell Punknews that the situation stems from a 2002 incident in which the Dead Kennedys issued a press release claiming that they had been banned from San Francisco, mentioning Slim's, the Great American Music Hall, and Dawn Holliday by name. That release is archived on their website here.
