With their next record not even on the street yet, Dashboard Confessional has apparently written 14 new songs for the follow up. According to a recent Billboard interview, Chris Carraba: ""there's a moodiness to these songs, not necessarily a somber thing, but there's a heaviness to these songs."

He also discusses the band's new record, saying:

"It's the 'just a kid and a guitar kind of thing' –– maybe I'm not a kid anymore, but I can still get to that place when I pick up an acoustic guitar and it's unadorned,. It's the most personal record I've written in many years,

The new record is titled The Shade of Poison Trees and is due out October 02, 2007
