Tom DeLonge has talked to MTV's Buzzworthy about Angels and Airwaves' new album I–Empire. In the interview he talks about his messiah complex.
I was like, “If God came down I really, truly believe it wouldn’t be bigger than this record.” [Laughs.]It’s all behind me. But the documentary will shed a lot of light onto the meaning of this band and what we’re trying to accomplish and how it all stemmed from the breakup of Blink–182
Apparently the singer/songwriter still has not talked to his former Blink182 bandmates and that I–Empire was the first time in nearly five years that he had sung sober, having been abusing pain relievers since breaking his back. He blames the aforementioned messiah–istic tendencies on said habit.
