Worriers

Worriers to wrap up

Lauren Denitzio has announced that they will be bringing Worriers to a close. They announced this in an Instagram post which reads,

After five albums, two EPs, and countless tours across three continents, I’m wrapping up Worriers as a project. The tour in May will be my last shows on the East Coast as this band, with West Coast dates to be announced soon.

I love so much of what goes into making music, but if you’ve been following along, Worriers has been thrown a lot of curveballs over the years. With ever-changing goal posts, the economics of touring, and the diminishing returns of social media, I’m just not having fun anymore.

I’ve always said that being in a band is the most fun job in the world, but I’ve reached a point where too many expectations associated with that don’t align with my values anymore. At a certain point, that overrides the fun parts.

I’m still recovering from burnout and need to shake up the creative snow globe of my life. I certainly hope that I tour again, but I want to do other things too like write an EP with friends for fun, produce someone else’s record, write songs for other people, and travel more without having to play shows to get there. If you have ideas for any of that, you know how to find me.

Thank you to everyone who wrote on these records, got on stage with me, believed in my songs, and gave me too many opportunities to count. I’ve met some of the best people I could ever hope to know through playing music, and I’ll never take that part for granted.

I hope you’ll go support Ernest Jenning Record Co, who still has my latest two records in print.

I look forward to the next chapter and seeing you at these final few shows.

HAVE FUN DON’T DIE

Worriers will be playing their final East Coast shows this May including a performance at Pouzza Fest in Montreal and will be announcing their final West Coast shows soon. Worriers released their albums Warm Blanket and Trust Your Gut in 2023. Check out Lauren’s statement in full below.

Fyre Fest 2 "postponed," some IP sold for a streaming service

Fyre Fest 2 “postponed,” some IP sold for a streaming service

Here's a shocker. Billy McFarland has "postponed" Fyre Fest 2. The event had been plagued with problems- no acts were booked, the local government stated that no permits were issued despite Mcfarland saying that he had obtained permits, and basic issues such as stage/event production had not even been started. Despite that, McFarland was selling tickets, the starting price which was in the $3,000 range and some of which cost over one million dollars US.

Well, Fyre Fest 2 has been "postponed" but not canceled… yet. People that did buy tickets have been refunded. There have been no details released as to the rescheduled event.

In the meantime, McFarland has sold some of the intellectual property associated with Fyre fest to Shawn Rech, who co-founded a streaming service called TruBlue with former To Catch A Predator host Chris Hansen and also started American Gospel TV. Essentially, McFarland has sold the rights to a few Fyre trademarks, which Rech will use to make a music video streaming service. Rech says, "Music networks are all just programming now, and I have no interest in watching people slip on bananas. It has nothing to do with music. I needed a big name that people would remember, even if it’s attached to infamy, so that’s why I bought these [trademarks] to start the streaming network… This isn’t about festivals or hype — it’s about putting the power of music discovery back in the hands of the fans. We’re building something authentic and lasting." As per the new Fyre streaming website: "FYRE Music Streaming is both a subscription Video On Demand (SVOD) app and a Free Ad-Supported Television Network (FAST)… The app works similar to well-known subscription services like Netflix. This is a start-up that secured the rights to use the FYRE brand for streaming, FAST and broadcast.”
