The Chicago event promoter ordinance, first reported back in May, is currently before City Council's License and Consumer Protection Committee. While there have been changes made to the original ordinance, the current version of the legislation would still require promoters to obtain $300,000 in liability insurance on top of paying fees ranging from $500 to $2,000.
Promoters are still worried the current ordinance would significantly affect business and DIY shows would become all but impossible.
